Customers,
Microsoft has introduced a change to DCOM which will make authentication stricter. Insequence uses DCOM to communicate with OPC Software on a remote computer to read and write to tags. Our legacy applications will need an update to handle this authentication change.
For more information about this change, refer to Microsoft’s KB5004442.
Microsoft’s rollout plan is to have this security feature installed but turned off. As of the June 2022 update, the feature will be turned on by default and can be turned off. In March 2023, the feature will be turned on and you will not be able to turn it off.
Insequence has modified MES, MRL, MEM, MEME, MRA, and Print Manager to use the new DCOM security settings. We have tested these versions with a couple customers and verified that they work with the new DCOM update that Microsoft has put out. Beginning on 8/12/2022, these versions are available to all customers. If you are on a version below the listed ones below, please contact support to update your versions. Even if you are not currently experiencing OPC/PLC connectivity issues, you may in the future when updates are done.
